'Wonky' car wash opens in Exeter
Carbana car wash opened this weekend at 200 Honiton Road, Exeter, the site of the former Vospers Jeep dealership, and the team behind it said they wanted the new car wash to “stand out from the crowd and make car washing different in more ways than one.”
They intended to design a car wash that shifts the boundaries of what is logical and provides something eccentric.

But if the design was chosen to get people talking, then it has certainly done the job. The eye-catching car wash has caused a buzz among locals and passersby who have spotted it from Honiton Road. “Looks like it's sinking into the ground, John said as he walked past the site.
“I drove past it and honestly thought they were taking it down,” added Sharon. Others joked that the structure was a classic case of the ‘I eyeballed it’ mistake.
The new Carbana carwash on Honiton Road includes a six-bay self-serve car wash, four vacuum bays with screen wash, tyre inflators, and a car drying machine, plus the site has a dog wash, and a self-use laundromat which includes two washing machines and a large dryer.
But despite all of its impressive features, the new business has been branded as the ‘wonky car wash’ across social media in the past.
“Be quick before it fully sinks to the ground,” wrote a Facebook user.
UK residents can expect to see more of these ‘wonky’ looking car washes popping up across the country, as the Carbana company promises this is only the beginning. Exeter is their second location, with Royal Wootton Bassett being their first which opened in
October 2023. They plan on eventually rolling this across the UK and having 100 locations.
