Edenstone and LiveWest start work on £30million housing scheme in Exeter

WORK is underway to create 93 new homes in Exeter which will bring more than £1.5 million in vital community investment.

Under a joint venture, Edenstone Group and the largest housing association in the South West, LiveWest , will build 61 private sale properties and 32 affordable homes across circa 10 acres of a 32-acre site off Spruce Close and Celia Crescent, Beacon Heath.

Exeter Airport sees summer passenger boost

Exeter Airport has reported continued steady growth with a 5% increase in passenger numbers over the summer period.

From April to October, 337,993 passengers travelled through the airport, an increase of 15,740 compared to the same period last year.

The summer season was marked by the successful launch of a new Ryanair route to Palma in Majorca, which contributed to the rise in passenger numbers, and August was ranked the busiest month when close to 57,000 passengers used the airport.

An Exeter-based Help for Heroes nurse has paid tribute to her ‘wonderful’ colleagues after receiving a national nursing award.

Janine Whitley, 46 who served in the Navy for 25 years and saw four tours of Afghanistan, has worked as a Veterans Clinical Advisor across Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Dorset, and Cornwall, since 2021.

An Exeter charity has appealed for the public’s support as it aims to win top prize in a national competition, enabling significant improvements to its services.

SAFE Foundation is one of 12 finalists from around the UK in the hunt for £5,000 in Selco Builders Warehouse’s Community Heroes competition, which attracted nearly 2,000 entries.

The new Bishop of Exeter, Rt Rev Dr Mike Harrison, has become the new Patron of Exeter’s local homelessness charity, St Petrock’s immediately following him taking up the position formally at the start of this month.

Railway line between Axminster and Exeter closed for upgrade work

Buses will replace trains between Axminster and Exeter St Davids from Saturday 9 November to Friday 22 November whilst we make track upgrades in the Honiton area.

During this two-week period, engineers will install a mile of new track through Honiton Tunnel, replacing the existing 50-year-old infrastructure. This upgrade includes the installation of new sleepers and ballast, ensuring a smoother and more reliable journey for passengers. The new rail is designed to millimetre precision and will be coated with a protective layer to resist corrosion to extend its lifespan.

Staff and residents at Cumberland Grange in Exeter celebrated Bonfire Night with a bang this November 5th when they wrapped up warm to gather around the bonfire to watch a fantastic firework display and enjoy lots of seasonal treats washed down with some warming luxury hot chocolates.
