City players and Supporters Trust a winning team

Exeter City’s Supporters’ Trust is buoyed by the news that members of the club’s First Team squad have given their backing to the latest Trust Recruitment Campaign, by becoming members of the Trust, writes Martin Lawrence.

Joining the rank and file Trust membership is Club Captain Danny Coles, who was eager to lead by example by supporting the Trust’s Recruitment Campaign.  Coles joins the Trust just days after City Manager Paul Tisdale launched the latest recruitment drive by renewing his own Trust membership.

Club Captain Coles joins the Trust along with influential Scottish striker Alan Gow, who was recently spied sporting his Trust branded T-shirt along with fellow squad member Jimmy Keohane who too has now become a Trust member.

Other members of the Exeter City playing squad to join the Trust include midfield maestro Matt Oakley as well as City youth product and first teamer Liam Sercombe.

City Manager Paul Tisdale recently reiterated the importance of the Trust Membership at Exeter City FC, and said; “The idea that ‘we own our football club’ is unique.  It brings a collective group of people together that care for Exeter City myself included.”

Paul continued; “I would encourage all supporters’ to either join the Trust or renew their membership like myself because this is a chance to become part of the clubs future and help the team achieve success on and off the field.”

Supporters Trust officials are keen to remind people that if they join the Trust before 1st of February 2013, they will be entered into an exclusive draw with some fabulous prizes on offer.

The top prize is an invitation for two, to attend a first team training session at the “Cat & Fiddle” training ground followed by lunch with the playing and coaching staff.  Other prizes include Trust t-shirts signed by one of Paul Tisdale, Alan Gow and Jimmy Keohane.

Existing members can also gain entry into the Trust’s exclusive prize draw.  Members wishing to enter must increase their current subscription by £24 per year (or £2 per month) and inform Trust Membership Secretary, Frank Sealey that they wish to be entered into the draw.   You can email Frank at trust.membership@exetercityfc.co.uk.

With Trust members continuing to contribute over £100,000 a year towards the development of their club, the value of Trust membership is obvious.  However Trust Chairman Laurence Overend is keen to stress that money alone is not the only factor behind the Trust’s desire to grow its ranks.

Laurence commented; “It’s not just about money.  Increasing the total number of Trust members increases the Club’s clout when it comes to things like selling advertising, or liaising with public bodies.  We are therefore keen for as many people as possible to join us in our pursuit of a larger more influential Trust membership which we hope will benefit Exeter City FC as well as the rest of our local community.”

Whether a life-long City fan, or a supporter of the local cooperative movement, you can own a part of your local community football club by signing-up to the Supporters' Trust and supporting the team on a match day.  You can join the Trust at the Trust stall in Red Square, or by signing up in the main club reception.  Details of how to join online are also available at www.ecfcst.org.uk/join
