Exeter Eagles soar to new heights
Exeter Eagles BMX club celebrated the completion of works to develop their track and facilities at a special evening event.
Funding for the new facilities has been provided by the Coastal Recycling Community Fund and has involved improvements to the track and the completion of a new toilet block and development of the club and catering room.
The track is now a centre of excellence with riders coming from all over the South West to compete and practice. The sport has become even more popular since the London Olympics and the Eagles Junior section is booming.
Bill Foster Club Vice Chairman said: “Thanks to Coastal we have been able to dramatically improve the facilities here and our track is now one of the best in the South West.
"We already have four Eagles riders competing in the World Championships in Holland with several youngsters set for the big time.
"BMX is a growing sport and our riders start from as young as four right up to 50”.
Lyn Chadwick Coastal Recycling Community Fund Manager said: “The Exeter Eagles are a great local club with boys and girls of all ages competing in time trials every week. It’s a lovely family club and was in need of some proper facilities for all the children parents and adult competitors. Coastal are delighted to be able to help and to play our part in developing the stars of the future.”
