Isca Hockey Club's all set to celebrate its centenary in style
Isca's centenary celebrations kick off in style this weekend. A two-day hockey festival at the University of Exeter has been organised, which will involve over 200 players. Reflecting Isca's contribution to Exeter's sporting community over the past 100 years, many ex-members return for the weekend and the players involved will range from 7-70 across genders.
Festivities will begin when Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw opens the weekend for the junior members. This will be followed by matches all day from past and present members, who have done so much to make Isca the success it is today. Both days of hockey will culminate in Men's first team matches; on Saturday against an Isca Oldboys team, and on Sunday against new National league rivals, Exeter University. Isca will also be joined over the weekend by Olympian and bronze medallist Simon Mason, the president of England Hockey. The weekend will be rounded off with a young farmers' charity game in aid of Devon Air Ambulance.
Off the pitch, the celebrations will be continuing in an Olympic park style complex, where members and guests will celebrate with food and drink including a hog roast and strawberries and cream. Music will be added to the festival atmosphere by up and coming Cole Stacey on Saturday, before he heads to Glastonbury.
Isca Hockey welcomes all ex-members and hockey enthusiasts to come and join in with what will be a great weekend and watch some high class hockey at the same time.
