More teams and players needed for ECFC community leagues
Did you know that Exeter City's Football in the Community Trust runs many different football leagues here in Exeter?
We are always looking for new teams - or individuals - to join us. There’s something for everyone - and if there isn’t, why not give us a call and we’ll see what we can do?
Firstly, our six-a-side league is looking for new teams to play on Wednesday evenings from 6.30-8pm. The new City 6s league starts on 24 April on the excellent 3G rubber crumb pitches at the University of Exeter and is open any men over the age of 16.
One of our most enthusiastically supported events is the Masters League, which is aimed at the over 35s (we don’t like to say veterans). This runs on Monday evenings at St Luke’s Science and Sports College, starting at 8pm.
You can turn up and play either as a team or as an individual, so whether you used to play football when you were younger and want to get back into the sport, or just fancy the challenge of trying something new, it’s a great way to participate in football - and have a laugh with your mates.
Want to extend that weekend football feeling? Why not take a look at the Futsal League, the fast-paced indoor game which top footballers such as Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas credit with improving their football skills. The league is open to all male footballers aged 16 and over and takes place at S James High School Sports Hall on Sunday evenings, with kick-off times between 5-8pm.
We also run an informal girls’ Under-18 small-sided football league, which aims to increase the opportunities for girls in the area to participate in football and physical activity and is open to players of all abilities.
The league meets fortnightly on Wednesday evenings and is open to new or established girls’ Under-18 teams - as well as individual players not affiliated to a club - from around Devon, and is held at the University of Exeter.
Each team or individual that enters any of the leagues will receive free match tickets to an Exeter City first-team fixture and for more information, contact Marcus Pritchard on 07816 779244 or email marcus.pritchard@exetercityfc.co.uk
