Spitfires ready for opening home game!
The Exeter Spitfires finally get to play their opening game at their new home this Sunday. The Bristol Bats are the first visitors to Chadwick Field at St. Luke's Sports College, with the first pitch at 12.00pm.
The Spitfires will be looking to make further improvements in their third game of the season following two heavy losses on the road at Plymouth and Torbay.
After their opening day loss in Plymouth they were much improved, however, at Torbay and held an early 3-2 lead. The game slowly got away from them though and they eventually lost 23-5.
There were definite bright spots with some players performing well on their debuts, excellent plays in the infield and impressive catches in the outfield. The pitching was also strong with many of Torbay's runs being scored later in the game as Exeter's pitcher tired which was to be expected as he played the whole game, something that is not common in Baseball.
As always, the Spitfires continue to look for new players to join the club and have welcomed several new faces in the last few weeks. If you would like more details please visit the club website at www.exeterspitfires.co.uk
