Topsham Town FC has kicked off the new season in style thanks to a donation from a national housebuilder.

Bloor Homes, which is building its Seabrook Orchards development in Topsham, gifted the club £500 to replace the first team’s five-year old home strip with a brand new yellow and blue kit.

The first team, which plays in the Devon and Exeter Premier League, is predominantly funded through memberships and was keen to purchase a new home kit, as the old one was starting to show noticeable signs of wear and tear.

John Gribble, who manages Topsham Town’s first team with Stuart Tyrer, said: “Our old kit was looking very tired and coming up to five-years old, so Bloor’s donation is a big boost to the team.

“In recent years the club has struggled somewhat financially and we didn’t have the funds to replace our kit. Our players were competing for the pairs of socks without holes in them and shorts were becoming slightly too small.

“This new kit is very important to helping us to both attract and retain players. It’s a big phycological boost to feel like a footballer when stepping on to the pitch and I’m sure the players will transfer this positive energy in to their performances.

“As you would expect, the new kit has gone down very well with the players and it looks very smart on and off the pitch. I’d like to thank Bloor Homes for its generous support to our team.”

Rowena Adams, Regional Sales Director for Bloor Homes South West, said: “Topsham Town FC plays a big part in the local community, so we were delighted to put this money towards a new home kit.

“The new strip looks fantastic and we wish the club the very best of luck for the rest of the season.”

Bloor Homes is building a range of three and four-bedroom homes at Seabrook Orchards, with prices starting from £329,950.
