Modbury Woman charged with murder of two-year-old

Update: Angela Vane, aged 40, who has been accused of murdering her two-year-old son, appeared at Torquay Magistrates' Court this morning. Charged with the murder of toddler Shaun O’Neill, Ms Vane did not enter a plea at a hearing at Torquay Magistrate's Court today. She will appear at Plymouth Crown Court on Wednesday, 23rd January.

Shaun's body was taken to Derriford Hospital and a post-mortem examination was carried out over the weekend. It is understood that relatives of the child have been informed about his death and of Ms Vane being charged.

The community is said to be in complete shock at the news and tributes have been paid in the form of flowers and a teddy bear left outside the house.

Yesterday: A 40-year-old woman from the Champernowne area of Modbury has this evening been charged with the murder of a two-year-old boy. The woman, Angela Vane will appear before Torquay Magistrates during the morning on Monday 21st January 2013.

Previously: At around 08:20hrs on Saturday 19th Jan 2013 following a report to the Police, officers attended an address in Champernowne Modbury, where they found the body of a two-year-old old boy.

A 40-year-old local woman has been arrested on suspicion of the murder and is currently in custody at Charles Cross Police station.

Police say that an investigation is ongoing at this time.
