Renewed appeal for information following fatal collision in Dorset
Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a fatal collision – with details of a vehicle they are keen to trace also being released.
Officers were called at 8.23pm on Sunday 24 February 2013 to the collision on the westbound carriageway of the A31 near the Ashley Heath roundabout.
The rider of a red scooter, believed to be a 16-year-old Ringwood girl, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed that a number of vehicles were involved in the collision and investigating officers are keen to trace one of these cars which left the scene prior to the arrival of police.
Traffic Inspector Matt Butler said: “We know from our investigation so far that a number of vehicles were involved in the incident and one of these vehicles – a Volvo XC90 similar to the one pictured – left the scene before police arrived.
“I need to trace this vehicle and urge anyone with information to contact me. I particularly appeal to the driver to get in touch.
“The front of the vehicle will be damaged. If anyone is aware of a Volvo XC90 which has sustained damage or has been repaired in the last few days, they should call police urgently.
“I also urge any witnesses to the collision, and anyone with information, to contact me.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 24:393. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
