Anti-drones protest in Washington during Obama's inauguration

Anti-drones protesters demonstrated in Washington DC on Monday as Obama made his second inauguration speech.

The demonstrators gathered in Meridian Hill Park, also known as 'Malcolm X Park' before marching through the city towards the White House.

He was formally sworn in at a small private ceremony in the White House on Sunday in the famous Blue Room with his wife and daughters. According to the words prescribed by the US Constitution, Mr Obama swore he would "faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". He repeated those words at Monday's public inauguration, placing his left hand on Bibles owned by legendary American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr and President Abraham Lincoln.

Protesters have commented on Obama's speech, made at the ceremony, criticising his references to freedom and peace while continuing drone attacks, many of which kill innocent people in their "collateral damage". (NewsPoint)
