Community marches for Kimani Gray in East Flatbush, New York

On Sunday afternoon a march was held in memory of Kimani Gray, a 16-year-old boy killed by police in a shooting in East Flatbush on March 9th.

Protesters say Gray's death is yet another example of NYPD brutality. However, police allege the 16-year-old was a gang member who pulled a gun on them, forcing a confrontation. Community members claim the police are lying.

Gray's death has sparked weeks of protest, leading to looting of stores and dozens of arrests. Community members have raised concerns about the number of protesters coming from outside the area to join marches and demonstrations.

NYPD were out in force at the march today, and were noted to have been seen carrying an LRAD - a non-lethal sound weapon, used for dispersing crowds. (NewsPoint)
