The Two Moors Festival is staging a production of Britten's 'Noye's Fludde' that will involve many children from Dartmoor and Exmoor - children whose schools are so remote that they have little chance to take part in professional musical events.

Directed by Thomas Guthrie and with BBC Radio 3's Petroc Trelawny as God, this will be an epic performance in keeping with the Festival's theme of 'Light'. Over a hundred youngsters will be singing and playing animals going into the ark two by two.

Some believe this work to be the finest that Britten ever composed. He cleverly combined professional musicians with amateurs and stipulated in the score that it was never to be performed in a theatre.

The Two Moors Festival, now in its thirteenth year, is the cultural flagship in the Southwest. Thirty concerts, mainly chamber music and involving artists at the highest level take place in October across Dartmoor and Exmoor. Concert-goers come from all over the world to enjoy not only the many recitals but also walking on the moors and staying in local B&Bs.
