Praise from across The Pond for the Exeter Chiefs
The New York Times have praised the Exeter Chiefs in a glowing article crediting the Heineken Cup side as 'the first outsider in a generation to truly crack the closed circle at the top of the English game".
Following the Chiefs' clinical performance against Cardiff last weekend and today's narrow defeat to Glasgow, they currently sit at the top of Pool 2 and are poised to capitalise on their second shot at success in Europe. The New York Times described Exeter's performance against their Welsh opponents last Sunday as the "result of the round".
The piece, written by Huw Richards, talks of the Chiefs' incredible rise in fame and fortune and is testimony to the hard work and effort that has been put in by everyone at the club. Richards was full of praise for the ever popular Rob Baxter, Exeter's "smart and engaging coach" and talks at length about his team's work ethic and mental attitude towards top-level competition.
This kind of international coverage will undoubtedly give everyone at Sandy Park something to be proud of and will hopefully give the team an incredibly important surge in confidence and help them to gather momentum to take into their home and away double against reigning European Champions Toulon in early December.
