Oxjam music festival takes over Exeter to raise funds for Oxfam
Over £2,750 was raised for Oxfam last weekend, when 60 artists and bands played live across Exeter for The Exeter Daily-sponsored music festival, Oxjam Exeter Takeover.
Exeter was just one of up to 60 towns and cities across the UK that took part in the festival, all on the same weekend.
Events began at midday on Saturday and included acts performing in Princesshay, the Guildhall Shopping Centre and Exeter Phoenix.
Over the course of the weekend, festival goers enjoyed music at several other locations in the city, including The Cavern, The Oddfellows, The Globe Inn, The Angel Bar and The Revelry.
Local singer/song writer, Charlotte Ward, played in both Princesshay Square and The Oddfellows.
Charlotte comments: 'I really enjoyed playing at my first Oxjam. It was great to be part of a festival in Exeter that raised money for a good cause.'
Oxjam was run entirely by a team of volunteers, who all donated their time for the cause.
David Collier, Oxjam Exeter Takeover Manager, comments: “I am really proud of the money we have raised for Oxfam. I’d like to thank all the sponsors, artists, venues, volunteer team and everyone who donated and supported Oxjam. I sincerely hope that next year's team can build on what we have achieved and produce another fantastic festival for Exeter and for Oxfam."
