RAMM to host well being seminar
Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) has organised a free seminar for professionals working with clients of all ages addressing health and well being issues.
The event, on Wednesday 20 November, will showcase the power of cross-sector partnership working to change people’s lives for the better. It will show, through case studies from RAMM and its partners, the positive contribution that museums can make.
Running from 1pm to 4.30pm at the Rougemont Thistle Hotel, the scene will set by Lord Victor Adebowale speaking in his role as Chair of Collaborate at the London South Bank University. Collaborate promotes effective cooperation between the public, business and social sectors to build sustainable communities and foster a strong civil society. Lord Victor Adebowale is a cross bench peer, government advisor on health, social care, youth policy and criminal justice, founder and currently Chief Executive of Turning Point and Chair of Collaborate at the London South Bank University.
Other speakers include:
• Ruth Gidley and Penny Hammond, Community Participation Officers at RAMM
• Kate Osborne, Learning and Skills Officer at RAMM
• Glenn Roberts, Recovery Devon
• Rob Wynne, Director, Magic Carpet, Exeter based Arts for Health organisation
• Henrietta Ireland, Manger, Exeter’s Youth Inclusion (YISP) and Support and Youth Offending Teams (YOT)
• John McDermott, co-founder, Aftermath PTSD (Combat related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
• Carrie Clarke, occupational therapist and specialist in older people’s mental health, Franklyn Hospital
The seminar will be followed by a reception at the RAMM (4.30-6pm) when Essentially Me!, the public exhibition created with Exeter’s Youth Inclusion and Support Team, young people, parents and carers, can be viewed.
Attendance is by invitation. People with a professional interest who wish to attend should contact ruth.gidley@exeter.gov.uk
