East Devon hotel awarded tourism accolade

The Deer Park is celebrating after being awarded Silver in the Devon Tourism Awards, held in association with Visit Devon.

The country house hotel in Weston, near Honiton was awarded Silver in the Business and Venue Tourism Category, sponsored by Exeter International Airport.

The awards were announced at a lavish ceremony at the Grand Hotel in Torquay.

Managing Director at Deer Park, Mark Godfrey commented: “We are utterly ecstatic to have been crowed Silver at the Devon Tourism Awards. We’ve heavily invested in the Deer Park over the last 12 months and it shows our hard work has paid off!

“In just a year we’ve worked so hard to make Deer Park a top-notch exclusive use wedding venue. We’ve created a truly magical outside Civil Ceremony area in the hotel’s Secret Garden, a romantic Italian Garden, new fountain, commissioned swinging seat, and for the ultimate dining experience guests can now enjoy pizza from the brand spanking new Bushman wood-fired oven!

“For our business guests, we work very closely with our chums over at Outside Adventure Consultants Ltd to provide numerous teambuilding activities in the grounds, including clay pigeon shooting, archery, fishing and fun on the all new zip wire!” added Mark.

This year, Devon Tourism Awards saw an increase to over 100 entries, with 44 leading tourism businesses selected as finalists.

The winners will now be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in 2014 and then possibly on to the National VisitEngland Awards later in 2014.
