ELF offers a helping hand this Christmas

At Exeter Leukaemia Fund, we know that the cost of Christmas can be expensive particularly those receiving medical treatment and are unable to work.

We are always looking to help and support patients and loved ones who suffer from leukaemia and other blood conditions, particularly during the festive period.

All haematology patients along with their loved ones who have appointments or treatments at the Haematology Centre, RD&E Hospital in December will be offered a hot drink and a mince pie from Cafe ELF which is situated in the reception area of the Haematology Centre for only 50p.

Cafe ELF is a vital part of the charity’s patient support offering which has seen customer prices reduced by 10% during all of 2013.

In addition those patients who need to spend Christmas and New Year in Yarty Ward, Haematology Centre, RD&E Hospital will not be forgotten.

ELF has written to Santa who has confirmed he will visit just before Christmas to bring a little Christmas cheer to those patients not able to celebrate Christmas at home. Santa will also remember the clinical and nursing teams who will be working over the Christmas period, by organising some festive goodies.

Amanda Parkinson, ELF Liaison Manager said: “It is lovely to give a little bit more in the run up to and over the Christmas period. These little extras I am sure will mean a great deal to the patients, which is in addition to the ELF Community Support Programme offering transport, accommodation and advice to haematology patients and their loved ones who have been referred to the RD&E Hospital.”
