East Devon District Council has announced a further Christmas parking concession to help town centre businesses in the final few days of the run-up to Christmas.

With effect from Wednesday 18 December and up to Christmas Day, there will be daily repeats of the successful ‘Small Business Saturday’ offer that applied on Saturday 7 December 2013. This means motorists can park all day (from 10am) for a maximum daily charge of just £2.

Councillor Iain Chubb, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We estimate that on Small Business Saturday an additional 400 customers were persuaded to buy a £2 ticket compared to previous years. We reckon that around half of these were customers who would previously have bought a cheaper ticket and so perhaps they were able to spend more time shopping in our towns.

“On balance we think the offer worked well for our towns and so we are now planning to repeat it”.

The offer

Every day, all day, between now and Christmas Day shoppers can now park from 10 am for just £2 in any East Devon Pay and Display Car Park. The pay and display ticket will then also be valid for re-use (if required) in any other East Devon pay and display car park for the remainder of that day.

Golden Ticket news

So far, three customers have contacted EDDC to claim their Golden Ticket prizes of 3-months free parking. There are 24 tickets to be claimed between now and Christmas Eve, so look out for the gold cross – it could be YOU!
