Golf news from Exeter Golf and Country Club

Steve Boyd had his first hole in one on Saturday using a 7 iron on the Par 3 4th Hole.  Congratulations Steve!

Men's news:

Gents Fourball Betterball: 

John Hayman & John Ware won the Saturday Fourball betterball Competition with a fine score of 45 points.  This beat the early starters (and first out group) of Roger Dickinson and James McMurdo.  Rounding off the prize winners were Malcolm Gifford & Robert Simpson, beating Chris Furzer and Mark Crouch on the Back 9 with 43 points.

The Captains Mail on Sunday team played on Sunday against East Devon, with East Devon having home advantage.  On a glorious day, the East Devon team won 4 – 1.  This didn’t reflect how tight all of the games were.  The match was played in great spirits and we wish East Deon the best of luck in the next round

Mixed news:

The first Mixed trophy was played for this past Sunday.  The Roper Cup is a long standing trophy played as a Greensomes stableford format.  The winners of the event were Les & Pat Nicks with 43 points, beating Ben & Debbie More who had 42 points.  The Vice Captain, John Fairman and his wife Tina came third, beating Colin and Jane Wayman into fourth place.

Ladies news:

The Ladies Mail on Sunday team played local rivals, Woodbury Park, and rounded out winners with a comfortable 5-0 victory. 

Match results: Gill Newbery won 4 & 3, Ali Scoble Won 1 up, Gill Richards Won 4 & 3, Carol Rovira Won 3 & 1 and Anne Norman Won 7 & 6.
