Elderly woman seriously injured in collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Seaton which left an elderly pedestrian with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to Harbour Road around 10.50am yesterday morning (23 March) after a Mercedes car was in collision with an 89-year-old woman near to the junction with Bay Court.

The elderly woman, from Seaton, sustained serious head, leg and arm injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by air ambulance. She remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The car driver, a 90-year-old woman from east Devon, was uninjured in the collision.

The road was closed for six hours for a specialist forensic investigation of the scene to take place.

Officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact them on 101 quoting log number 343 of 23/03/2014.
