Gas alarm results in late night evacuation

A gas detection alarm, which began sounding at 9.47pm last night, resulted in an Axminster property being evacuated and fire crews being called to the incident.

Firefighters immediately advised an evacuation when they recieved the report of the sounding alarm.

Two local appliances were mobilised to the incident with a gas detection monitor. Once in attendance crews had low level readings on the gas detector, and efforts were made to ventilate the property and to locate the source.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used and the property made safe
