Zumba Funds Boost for Headway!
On Saturday 29 March, generous local people shimmied, skipped and shook their way to raising £193 at a Zumbathon for Headway Devon, the local brain injury charity.
The event took place at the Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter and was instructed by Johanna Morgan, founder of Sidmouth’s JM DanceFit. Attendees of all ages and abilities kicked their weekend into shape together and enjoyed sixty minutes of fun-loving Zumba, making every move count to raise valuable funds for this deserving local cause.
Holly Keatings, Fundraising Manager at Headway Devon said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the event such a success: to Johanna for her support on Saturday and in the run up to the event; to all of the people who attended the class, especially those who travelled from Seaton and Sidmouth to join in; and to Riverside Leisure Centre, who very generously provided space for us to run the event at no cost.
“We are delighted with the £193 that was raised, all of which will be put towards our building appeal which will see us secure the XCentre on Exeter Quay as a permanent home for our day centre for people with brain injuries. This will make a significant and lasting difference to the people that we support every week and we are very grateful to everyone who supported the event for helping us on our way to achieving this goal.”
Johanna, JM DanceFit Founder said: “I was really pleased to have been approached by Headway Devon to instruct Zumba at their Spring fundraiser. I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the event and was thrilled with the added support from my local Zumba class members. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone who participated, making the event a great success in raising money to help towards giving people with brain injuries, together with their families, the support and essential services they need.”
