Nicola Jeffrey joined Ashfords LLP staff for a fundraising Cyclathon
Over the week commencing 28 April 2014, Ashfords LLP staff cycled an impressive 1,687.31 miles in order to raise donations for their chosen Charity of the Year, Children's Hospice South West (CHSW). CHSW are the only organisation in the South West to provide care for children with life-limiting conditions outside of a hospital environment.
Exercise bikes were placed in the receptions of Ashfords' Exeter, Taunton, Bristol and London offices and staff cycled in half hour stints throughout the day all week. On the final day, Ashfords moved its cyclathon challenge to Sainsbury's in Pinhoe, Exeter, to clock up the final miles in front of the Friday shoppers. During the course of the week, Ashfords raised a total of £656.80 for CHSW.
Nicola Jeffrey, whose daughter Isobel suffers from a life-limiting illness, is supported by the hospice and visits Little Bridge House in North Devon. Nicola joined the Ashfords' team on the final day at Sainsbury's. Nicola will shortly be embarking on an incredible cycling challenge of her own, which will start in September 2014. Nicola was keen to lend her support by clocking up 22 miles to the Ashfords Cyclathon total.
Nicola's adventure company Journey Begins, is organising a new overseas fundraising challenge, the week-long 'Route des Grande Alpes', in aid of CHSW.
Nicola explains why she has launched the initiative: "Our daughter Isobel has a slowly progressive neurodegenerative condition and she has a very uncertain future. We have been very well supported over the years by the team at Little Bridge House and we really want to ‘put something back’ to say thank you for everything they’ve done to look after our family when we’ve needed them."
Stuart Mathews, partner in Ashfords Corporate and Commercial Team, comments: "The Cyclathon underlines Ashfords' continuing commitment to helping CHSW and the local community in general. Ashfords has set itself an ambitious target to raise a significant donation to assist CHSW with caring for local families in need of help. The Cyclathon is another example of how Ashfords continues to help CHSW and the local community by staff-led fun events."
