Oak Furniture Land opening is a success

Exeter Chief’s famous mascot Big Chief….in the shape of a cake joined the Lord Mayor of Exeter to officially open the new Oak Furniture Land store on Exeter Retail Park on Saturday 24th May.

The life size cake of Big Chief’s head took centre stage as the Lord Mayor accepted the creation from the new Oak Furniture Land store.

Those who attended the opening were the only ones to catch a glimpse of the eye catching cake, which was due to make an apperance on Devon County Show's third and final day.

The cancelation of Devon County Show meant the cake was not cut, however it is believed plans are in place to make sure the tasty treat is shared with the public.

Oak Furniture Land the UK’s largest retailer of solid hardwood furniture, commissioned the life size cake of Big Chief’s head to celebrate their arrival in town and show their support for the West Country’s number one Rugby team.

The new store, located at Unit 6B on the Exeter Retail Park, is 13,000 sq ft and features the latest made to match sofa ranges as well as 20 ranges of high quality oak, mango and mahogany furniture at great prices.

From traditional to contemporary styles, the store will showcase exclusively designed furniture to compliment all tastes; for the bedroom, dining room, living room and hallway.

The amazing cake sculpture of Big Chief was designed by acclaimed West Country based cake artist David Mason of Dave’s All Occasion Cakes and CakeBomb.

The Exeter store opening times: Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm. (10:30 am - 11:00 am viewing only)
