Club championship golf results
The latest competition for the gents at Exeter Golf and Country Club was the Club Championships. Over 140 players competed in the Nett trophy, which was won by Roy James with a fine nett 63. Low scoring was the order of the day with 10 players beating the par of 69.
Divisional winners were as follows:
Division 1 (0-9): 1 Oli Cowl 66, 2 Neil Woolfrey 67, 3 Martyn Luxton 67.
Division 2 (10-14): 1 Roy James 63, 2 Kev Cocker 66, 3 Chris Gaite 68.
Division 3 (14-19): 1 Douglas Jeffrey 66, 2 Matt Baxter 72, 3 Steve Sheldon 72.
Division 4 (20-28): 1 Simon Quantick 68, 2 Alex Boulton 69, 3 Paul Naden 75.
In the 36 hole scratch division, some unbelievable scoring was achieved with three players returning under par scores for the two rounds.
After the morning round, it was a tight affair with Ryan pope and oli Cowl returning gross 66’s (-3) and Harrison Greenberry a gross 68 (-1).
In the afternoon round, Ryan Pope accelerated away from the field with a gross 63 (-6) which included a double bogey on the 17th hole. Oli Cowl scored 67 (-2) for a -5 total which would have been good enough to win any other Club Championship. Not this year as Ryan returned a total of 129 (-9). Harrison Greenberry returned a level par 69 to score 137 overall
Mixed Killey Cup - mixed golf competition at Exeter Golf & Country Club
One of the three Mixed majors was played for this past Sunday, with Simon & Marina Quantick scoring 42 points in this Greensomes stableford format. Runners Up were George Robinson and Molly Haslam with 41 points.
