Alphington building destroyed by fire
A derelict building in Balls Farm Road, Alphington has been left totally destroyed after a fire.
Two fire appliances from Danes Castle, one from Middlemoor and two from Crediton plus an Aerial Ladder Platform from Danes Castle and an Incident Command Unit from Honiton were all sent to a report of a fire in a derelict property at 5.42pm yesterday.
A fire was confirmed involving the whole of the first floor and roof space. LPG cylinders were removed to safety. The Aerial Ladder Platform was used as a water tower plus three jets. A compressed air foam branch was stood by to cover adjacent thatched property if required. The building of two storeys measuring 15 meters by 10 meters was completely destroyed by fire.
The equipment used was three main jets, two hose reel jets and crews had one compressed air foam branch standing by at the incident.
