The C Group charity event at Exeter Golf and Country Club
The Royal Marines C Group charity presented to a networking event at the Exeter Golf and Country Club and awarded the Club’s 2013 President with their Ambassador status.
The C Group supports Royal Marines in need, particularly those who have been injured on operations and in transition to civilian life.
The charity was initiated in 2008 by Major General Andy Salmon CMG OBE following discussions with members of Exeter Business Community who offered help to overcome the barriers between service and civilian life.
The C Group works closely with Hasler Company, the Plymouth based rehabilitation centre, and the Recovery Troops within 3 Commando Brigade to channel support from the business community to Royal Marines in need.
Following the presentation by Major Steve Melbourne, the Officer Commanding Hasler Company and Mr John Cottington, newly appointed Director of Operations Lieutenant Colonel Sharky Ward OBE invited Eddie Grant, President of Exeter Golf and Country Club from January 2013, to become a C Group Ambassador in recognition of his hard work and commitment to the charity.
Eddie has chosen The C Group as his charity of the year and has already planned a diary of fundraising and awareness opportunities for 2013, including a James Bond Night, a Sportsman’s Dinner, golf competitions and a Last Night of the Proms evening.
Shirley-Anne Fison, Member and Ambassador for The C Group,
“Eddie’s support has been truly outstanding and has helped raise our profile significantly within the Exeter environment, for which we are hugely grateful. We are honoured to invite Eddie to join our team of Ambassadors, and look forward furthering our relationship with him, the Exeter Golf and Country Club and the Exeter Business Community over the months and years ahead.”
