Charity appeals to supermarket customers
Supermarket customers will have the opportunity to have a go at table cricket when disabled people’s charity CEDA launch their new partnership with Sainsbury’s Alphington Road on Thursday 31 July.
CEDA has just become the local charity partner of Sainsbury’s Alphington Road. The Exeter-based charity find imaginative and creative ways to provide support services to disabled people, with a focus on independence and empowerment.
Diana Cole, one of CEDA’s directors said: “As a small charity, this partnership with Sainsbury’s will make a big difference to us and we really want to make the most of it. We believe that people are entitled to more than basic care and support, and that every activity should have purpose and meaning. This all comes at a cost.
“We’ll be able to run fundraising events at the Alphington Road store, and this will also give us the opportunity to raise awareness of what we do and the profound effect we have on people’s lives.
“We’re hoping that people will be inspired by the para-sports at the Commonwealth Games and have a go at our table cricket. It should liven up the shopping experience!”
CEDA works with disabled adults and children to provide a range of activities and to help each person to be a visible and valuable member of the community. The charity works with people from all over Devon at its Exeter base and in the community.
Excited by the opportunity, CEDA already have a car boot sale planned for Sunday 10 August, taking place at Sainsbury’s Alphington Road at 4pm.
Plans are underway for a quiz night in November and other events in the lead up to Christmas.
