Exeter Tennis Centre has unveiled a revamped coaching programme specially designed to make it easier for local families to pick up a racquet.

The new programme features an exciting selection of toddler, mini, junior, teen and adult sessions timed to make it possible for children, siblings and parents to be on-court at the same time.

Director of Tennis Will McNally explained: “Families are incredibly busy so we wanted to find the best way for them to make the most of tennis.

“We’re in the privileged position of having 10 fabulous indoor courts which allows different coaching sessions to take place at the same time. That means that mum and dad can join an Adult Coaching course whilst the kids enjoy our excellent Mini Red, Mini Orange or Mini Green sessions. They can arrive together and leave together which is much easier for everyone.

“All of our programmes follow the Lawn Tennis Association’s national curriculum, and our coaches are experienced in making all players feel like champions, no matter what their ability.”

The largest indoor tennis centre in the South West, Exeter Tennis Centre is the perfect place to inspire the next generation of tennis champions. With over 20 different courses and sessions taking place at the Centre itself and a further nine at its satellite venue Victoria Park Tennis Club, there’s no excuse not to pick up a racquet and get involved.

Amongst the sessions on offer is Adult’s Tennis Xpress, a twelve week course for new players to master the fundamentals. Pay and play sessions like the high energy Cardio Tennis fitness class and Adult Social match play, also provide an opportunity to simply turn up and play.

The Centre’s acclaimed Mini programme gives players aged 4-11 the chance to test their skills using child friendly courts and equipment for an exciting twist.

Schools tennis will also remain at the fore-front of the Centre’s community programme. Every year the centre’s LTA qualified coaches inspire hundreds of children in class assemblies, P.E lessons and afterschool clubs.

Tennis Development Officer Julie Williams explained: “The schools programme is central to what we do. The Centre’s motto is Tennis for Life, so by going into schools and through our schools tennis festivals we are able let children from all walks of life experience tennis and develop a life-long passion for the sport we love.”

Exeter Tennis Centre’s autumn programme starts from 08 September. A full timetable of activities and further information on courses is available on the Exeter Tennis Centre website at www.exeter.ac.uk/sport/tenniscentre/coaching. To find out more, call 01392 724452 or email xtc@exeter.ac.uk
