Pumpkin Sculpture Competition
Children and adults alike are being encouraged to get creative over the next few weeks in the lead up to Devon’s newest pumpkin sculpture competition.
Being held to coincide with Halloween, The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter is inviting people of all ages to create wow-factor pumpkin carvings and take them to the hotel on Friday October 31 for judging.
The Pumpkin Sculpture Competition is being held in aid of Farms For City Children, the hotel’s new Charity of the Year. General Manager Fiona Moores said this was the perfect excuse for people to put their design skills to the test and produce a pumpkin masterpiece.
She said: “In years gone by, we have seen some fabulous pumpkin creations shared on social media around Halloween time. We want people to seek inspiration and help us create our own showcase of Devon pumpkin masterpieces. We are delighted to be supporting Farms for City Children. They are our new charity in the hotel and any funds we raise through this event will be going straight to them.”
Entry to the competition costs £5 per pumpkin and must be pre booked and paid for in advance as spaces are limited. All monies donated will be matched by The Magdalen Chapter and donated to the charity. There will be three categories to enter – Under 9s, ages 10-17 and Adult. Prizes will include a £25 toy voucher for each junior category and an afternoon tea for two people in the Adult Category. As the competition will take place during Half Term, all children who enter on October 31 will dine for free that day when accompanied by a dining adult.
All pumpkins must be dropped off at the hotel by 3pm on Friday October 31. Judging will take place at 3.30pm. For more information about The Magdalen Chapter’s Pumpkin Competition, visit www.themagdalenchapter.com
