Work well under way on new Matford Green Business Park
Works are well underway on the new Matford Green Business Park, with SWH Civils as the Principle Contractor for Civil Engineering and Infrastructure operations.
The major extension to the established Matford Park and Marsh Barton employment areas is recognised as Exeter’s largest commercial and trade centre.
Working with Eagle Land, SWH has provided the infrastructure for the first two stages of the new 20acre business development, which will generate 46,500 square meters of employment space, including pubs, restaurants and retail facilities.
Infrastructure work commenced on site in March of 2014 and the second phase of the scheme has been completed this month. Site operations started with deep drainage operations at 4.8m below ground level and piling operations to enable the construction of a new bridge.
A new 200m road has now been completed with the associated utilities infrastructure and street lighting. An attenuation system of culverts measuring 80 metres in length has been installed alongside the new carriageway and with an outfall and flow control to return storm flows back to the watercourse at the front of the site.
With site operations over a challenging programme being completed on time; work has already started to develop the business park, with a new Volkswagen car dealership under construction and further occupants set to commence in early 2015.
SWH Civils is also currently undertaking a number of high profile projects in the South West region, including the renovation of Laira Bridge Plymouth and the delivery of a road widening scheme to Exeter Airport to better assist those who regularly use the facility. SWH Civils is continuing to maintain Devon’s highways.
