ELK wins New Business award in Devon Venus Awards
Ellie Greensmith, proprietor of Elk Salon in Princesshay received the New Business Award 2014 at the Devon Natwest Venus Awards on the 21st November 2014.
Elk Salon opened in Princesshay in December 2012 with a team of two offering hair styling, colouring, cutting and extensions.
The Natwest Venus Awards now in its second year in Devon, were created to recognise the role of women in business and are described as the ‘Working Women’s Oscars’.
Ellie Greensmith was nominated by her mother in law for the award and was subsequently voted for the award by the public via social media channels. The ultimate decision was made by a panel of judges at the event awarding Ellie and her salon the coveted award.
Ellie trained with Vidal Sassoon Academy in London before working in a high profile salon in Chelsea gaining vital experience and knowledge of the hair world before moving to Devon. After almost a decade in the industry, Ellie grew her client base to enable her to open her own salon; Elk in Princesshay.
Ellie Greensmith, proprietor of Elk Salon said: “After putting in 2 years of hard work, it is extremely satisfying and rewarding to receive some recognition for my company which I am very proud of. Winning the award is so positive for Elk moving forward as we can hopefully reach out to more people to share our Elk experience. We are really excited for the future of Elk Salon.”
Ellie now owns a second salon on the campus of the University of Exeter in the newly refurbished Devonshire House. The team now stands at 14 staff members strong and continues to grow as the business expands.
