Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale says he isn't going to get too downhearted after his side lost 2-0 at home to Port Vale on Satuday.

The visitors scored in each half to to deny the Grecians any points.

Steve Tully thought he'd equalised but saw his header hit the crossbar.

Vale's Tim Pope made Exeter pay when he fired home his second goal and there wass no coming back for the home side.

Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon City had not been effective enough at home and that he wasn't going to get into a blame game.

He added: "I think they are the most effective team we've played so far and it just shows we're just short at the moment.

"It's a quarter of the season gone now, which is a very good opportunity to assess our performance, and we've not been effective enough at home.

"You look at the games and you assess them. We'll work out our way to improve and that's what we'll do."
