Rock Solid Race returns to its roots
This March sees Rock Solid Race returning to Escot Park for the third time – bringing with it more obstacles, more races and more days to do it in (the event will be running on both days this year).
Founder and owner Ashley Jardine is thrilled with the reaction to the event. Having left a safe career as an Optician just three years ago, he took a big gamble on carving out a new career in Obstacle Racing. It looks like it has paid off.
“Just three years ago, Escot Park was our very first event and since then we have become known as being one of the best races around.”
“This year we really can say that it’s bigger and better. With events over a weekend on 21st and 22nd March we’re expecting 5,000 to take part in the race itself (compared to 3,600 last year). What’s more, we reckon that there will be about 10,000 spectators and supporters joining us to cheer everyone on. It’ll be a massive weekend.”
And it doesn’t stop there. To keep the hardiest competitors on their toes, this year sees the introduction of the 15k race – covering 50 obstacles including an abseil into the quarry. For the youngest competitors, the RockSolid team are introducing RockStars – a 1-1.5km event for children.
After the race and a hot shower, competitors can relax in the Event Village with live music, food stalls and the Rock Solid Arms, serving some well earned pints.
And whilst everyone will be hoping for good weather for the event in March, Ashley and his team doesn’t want it to be too nice beforehand – after all, the more rain, the more muddier the course!
