One of the UK’s top divorce lawyers, who is based in Exeter, is part of a line up of top speakers at a London event for senior women in surgery.

Liz Allen, head of the family law team at Stephens Scown LLP will join speakers including the psychologist, child therapist and media personality Professor Tanya Bryon and fashion designer Amanda Wakeley at the Senior Women in Surgery Day on Friday, 6 February. The event will take place at Amanda Wakeley’s showroom in Mayfair and is hosted by The Royal College of Surgeons of England.

The sold out event will be attended by female surgeons from across the UK and Liz Allen will speak to the group about ways to protect themselves and their families, discussing risk factors for divorce, ways to prevent disagreements about money and options for divorce if it becomes inevitable.

Liz commented: “There are many issues which successful career women must think about in order to protect themselves and their families: from protecting inherited wealth through a pre or post nuptial agreement to considering collaborative divorce or mediation if separation is inevitable. In my experience one of the greatest risk factors for divorce is a disparity of wealth, and I’ve found that couples who discuss finances openly and frankly often avoid problems later on.”

Women in Surgery is a national initiative seeking to promote surgery as a career for women. This is the group’s second Senior Women in Surgery Day.

Liz Allen is widely regarded as one of the best divorce lawyers in the UK. Her family law team at Stephens Scown is consistently given top ranking by independent legal guides Chambers and Legal 500. As well as top tier ranking as an individual in the legal guides, Liz has been named on the Citywealth Leaders List, an international guide to the most highly regarded figures in private wealth management.
