Free Easter fun for kids at Exeter Racecourse
At the heart of the special day, which is sponsored by Finlake Holiday Park, is horse racing and children will be given a fascinating behind the scenes tour, which includes a running race down the home straight, with former jockey Ollie McPhail, who now works for the British Horse Racing Standards and Education Trust.
Leonard Coombe Master Saddlers and Country Life at Newton Abbot support the day with a host of prizes, including for the winners of the running races and a special competition to draw or paint the cover of the race card.
Children can ask famous jockeys questions, and the child they think who asks the best one will also be given a prize.
New this year are miniature Shetland ponies from Party Ponies and there will be a chance to meet them, pet them, and perhaps even have a go at grooming them. Add to this a raceday quiz, the chance to go on an Equisor, which is an imitation racehorse, and wear jockeys’ brightly coloured silks, mini fair ground attractions, and of course seven horse races and it’s a day not to be missed.
Two pony races, which are part of the Charles Owen series, will take place at 12.50 and 1.20pm with the first main race off at 2pm.
Gate open at noon.
Two for one Grandstand and Paddock tickets at £15 are available if pre-booked, quoting FAMILY15.
