Stagecoach unveils bus station mural
Stagecoach South West has unveiled the final phase of its modernisation of Paignton Bus Station: a nine metre long mural featuring many of the Bay’s popular visitor attractions.
The mural represents the latest project completed in partnership with English Riviera Attractions (ERA), and the English Riviera Tourism Company (ERTC). It is designed to not only brighten up the bus station but also provide inspiration for anyone looking to plan a day out in the Bay.
Helen Scholes, Marketing Manager for Stagecoach South West, commented: “Torbay is blessed with such a fantastic range of attractions, the majority of which are easily accessible using our buses. I’m delighted I could work with ERA to produce this mural and I hope it helps bring even more visitors to their doors.”
Richard Cuming, Chairman of ERA commented: “We are already working in partnership with Stagecoach SW in regard to our own Passport and Hop11 and Hop12 timetables. We thought this was a great idea not only to brighten up the upgraded Paignton bus station but to encourage tourists and residents alike to visit the many great Attractions the English Riviera has to offer by bus.”
The installation of the mural comes at a time when the Torbay tourism industry is busy gearing up for Easter and the start of the main holiday season. In preparation, Stagecoach and many representatives from ERA will be attending the English Riviera Tourism Exhibition, taking place at the Riviera International Conference Centre on 17th March. The event will also see the launch of the 2015 ERA Passport which contains great savings for many of the attractions featured on the mural, as well as a map of how to access them using Stagecoach buses. The Passport is available to visitors at hotels and holiday parks as well as via the Visitor Information Points situated around the Bay.
The revamped Paignton Bus Station reopened in May 2013 following significant works which included the replacement of the bus station roof canopy, new signage, paving, lighting, CCTV and seating. At the same time, the Travelshop also became an official Visitor Information Point for the ERTC. Earlier this year the Travelshop benefitted from new signage both inside and out, highlighting the services it offers and a selection of the best value tickets available to buy inside.
