Words of love win Exeter couple a Valentine's Day treat
Martin Bingham, 44, from Exeter is celebrating with the woman he is wooing, June Vowsy, this week thanks to a declaration of love that he posted in the window of Card Market at 247 High Street.
Martin, who has been smitten with June the past four months, wrote the perfect sonnet to his woman and entered it into Card Market’s Valentines window hoping his well-chosen words would win him and June a romantic dinner for two.
Martin’s love note, captured the hearts and minds of Card Market staff and customers alike, it reads: “To my darling June, Roses are red, Violets are blue, My heart and soul belong 2 ‘u’. Be my Valentine forever, Martin.”
Martin and June will be warming their hearts over dinner later this month.
Martin says: “I went into Card Market when I heard about the competition, wrote out the note and posted in the window. I later showed it to her and she thought it was very sweet.”
Brett Renfree, Store Manager at Card Market in Exeter, said: “We have seen creativity and romance flourish at Card Market in Exeter this year. Finding Exeter’s creative cupid has been a resounding success.
"Our windows have been adorned with love notes from local people declaring their undying love to the object of their affections. The response has left all of us at Card Market speechless. Congratulations to Martin on winning the top prize.”
When asked what makes his and June’s relationship special, he said: “She has principles and morals. We respect each other and we have a spark.”
