Although the latest season of Britain’s Got Talent has drawn to a close, bus operator Stagecoach is continuing its own search for the very best in local driving talent with the launch of the latest installment of their reality TV inspired recruitment campaign.

‘Stagecoach Needs Talent’ features popular Exeter Park & Ride driver Neal Mills, who regularly receives compliments for his customer service skills and rapport with his passengers. Neal will be appearing as a larger than life advert on the rear of one of the operator’s city buses, on A4 posters and – in a first for the bus company – as one of the stars of a recruitment film.

The 3-minute film is the first piece of content to go live on the operator’s new YouTube channel. The film will be premiering @stagecoachsw on Twitter at midday on Monday 8th June. In addition to Neal, the film also features drivers Lisa Isaacs and Richard Tarr giving a candid insight into why they love a career behind the wheel, a behind the scenes look at the driving school and a high tech tour of one of the operator’s modern fleet of buses.

Simone Smith, Operations Manager for Stagecoach in Exeter, commented “Exeter is one of the largest Stagecoach depots in the country, employing well over 400 drivers. I’m always on the lookout for drivers like Neal, Lisa and Richard – friendly, customer service orientated people who not only have great driving skills but also brighten our customers’ day.”

Simone is organizing an open recruitment day, taking place in Princesshay on 13th June. She explained “We held a similar day last year and it was a great opportunity to talk to people who may not have previously considered working for us. We’ll have staff on hand to help with applications and anyone interested will even have the chance to pop up to the bus station and try driving a bus there and then!”

The operator has also been busy improving its overall employment process with the launch of a new, online recruitment portal. Here prospective candidates can not only register their details but also track and manage their current applications as well as ask to be kept informed of new job alerts.

Stagecoach welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and is looking for people who are passionate about great customer service, can think on their feet and hold a full UK driving license. Currently, there are a number of driving roles available at the company’s Exeter depot. All offer a basic salary of £20,000 per annum*, a generous holiday entitlement, company pension scheme and free bus travel for the employee and their immediate family.

Stagecoach is also always keen to promote from within and aims to encourage ambition amongst its staff through a number of staff development programmes that can lead onto supervisory or managerial roles within the company.

To be the first to see the new recruitment film follow @stagecoachsw on Twitter. Thereafter it will be available on YouTube and via a link on the operator’s recruitment page at www.stagecoachbus.com/careers.aspx. The open recruitment day will take place in Bedford Square in Princesshay from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 13th June.
