A special ‘Venus Experience’ was hosted by the Devon Venus Awards 2015 for local women in business yesterday (Thurs 25th June).

The Venus Experience allowed award nominees and women interested in entering the awards to take part in a question and answer session about the nomination and application process.

The event, which took place at The Imperial Pub on New North Road in Exeter, was open to everyone who has already entered or is thinking of entering the awards, which recognise women in business who demonstrate exceptional talent. There was also the chance to network with prospective nominees.

Venus regional partner Alexis Bowater was on hand to answer questions and explain the awards to sponsors and nominees.

Sally Allen, founder of Wizard Jeans and former Venus winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award and Lifetime of Excellence Award, said: “My whole career had always been about putting big brands, companies or celebrities in the spotlight – certainly not myself. Thanks to Tara, the founder of the Venus Awards, she got me to enter. Frankly I was gobsmacked when I won!

“I’ve been amazed at the camaraderie, support and inspiration of all those involved. It was a fantastic and rewarding experience, so much so that I decided to become the sponsor of this year’s Best New Business Award. I know I am going to meet some very worthy contenders and hope that the entries will be from women of all ages. I am proof that you are never too old to start a new business venture.”
