An unrelenting voodoo trance experience, combining a heady mix of folk and blues roots of the deep south with out-and-out funk and dance.

After years of performing and recording several albums with The Souldiers, the Dutch – New Zealand ensemble comprising Joost van Dyck, sister Cato van Dyck and New Zealand guitarist Daniel ‘Da Freez’ Johnston, em- barked on a new journey and formed My Baby in 2012, working their magic in the Smusic Studio in Amsterdam to release Loves Voodoo! in 2013. A performance at Noorderslag in 2014 made way for a tour schedule that has brought My Baby all over the world.

Since then My Baby’s live act has developed a name for itself as an unrelenting voodoo trance experience combining folk and blues roots of the deep South and out- and-out funk and dance, gaining notoriety worldwide, performing in Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Australia and the USA, playing prestigious festivals and showcases, and supporting internationally renowned artists such as Seasick Steve and Larry Graham.

With Shamanaid (release March 2015) MY BABY has taken its hypnotic live act to the studio, combining their signature hot gospel, shouting, electric dance with whispering soft ballads straight from the soul.

The band endeavours to create an imaginative land- scape, where My Baby has become an allegory, the protagonist in a phantasmagorical and timeless universe, where she features as the figurehead of protest, voodoo priestess, bearer of broken hearts, both aggressor on the plains and keeper of the peace, enchanting, meditating, preaching, screaming, loving, dreaming…
