Two men have today been sentenced to four years each in jail after being caught attempting to sell heroin on the streets of Exeter.

Mohamed Adalla (left), aged 19 and Abdu Aziz Mohammed (right), aged 26 were sentenced to 4 years each at Exeter Crown Court today (27th July) after pleading guilty to possession of heroin with intent to supply.

Adalla and Mohammed, both from London, were caught by plain clothes officers in possession of over 45 grams of heroin with a street value of £6,880 near Exe Street on Thursday 4th June.

Officers were alerted to the duo after noticing that they were in company with a local drug user and suspected that a deal was about to be made. Both Adalla and Mohammed were arrested and were in possession of heroin, as well as a mobile phone which was used to receive drug orders.

Speaking after today’s sentencing, Detective Sergeant Alan Barnsley said: “We are pleased with the sentence passed down today from the courts. I would like to thank my eagle-eyed officers who acted on their policing instincts to apprehend these drug dealers and to help keep our streets clean.

“We are aware that organised crime groups from other parts of the country send drug runners to Devon and Cornwall to sell class-A drugs including heroin. This result is another example that shows that we are not a soft touch and we will continue to target organised crime groups from London and Liverpool that send people to the streets of Exeter dealing class-A drugs.”
