The landlady of a popular Ottery pub was over the moon to learn her kitchen has achieved the top rating of five for food hygiene.
Jacqui Down says she was ‘chuffed’ to receive the rating from the Food Standards Agency last week.

“We’ve recently finished the first stage of refurbishment in the pub, including a new dining area so more customers can enjoy a meal with us, so this is welcome news,” Jacqui said.

“As the pub’s chef, food hygiene is of the highest importance to me, and it’s really satisfying to have my own standards reinforced by a recognised organisation.”

The Volunteer Inn is committed to serving traditional ‘pub grub’ to a very high standard, using locally sourced ingredients and working with local suppliers, including Otter Produce and Country Farm.
