Doubts raised over Dawlish Air Show
Doubts have been raised over the future of Dawlish Air Show.
The following statement has been posted on the show's website:
"Volunteers, fans, visitors, supporters and Friends of Dawlish Airshow, thank you for your continued support and interest in the show and your patience while waiting for us to announce the 2016 date.
"After much deliberation we have decided that, at this moment in time, we will be taking a break during next year’s airshow season.
"We have had over 10 years of amazing displays in Dawlish and won awards internationally. We have been rewarded by your repeated visits to Dawlish as tourists and for our event, your support in fundraising and of course, securing the mighty Avro Vulcan in her last year of flying.
"And so, on those high notes, we’d like to take a year out to plan, prepare and increase support, both financially and in-person, to improve and best cater for the 80,000 people that descend on our beautiful seaside town for the airshow weekend.
"We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported the event over the years and hope to work with you, and see you all again, in the future.
"We thank you in advance for your support in our decision, which wasn’t an easy one, and hope you understand.
"Thank you."
