St Margaret's pupils and parents express sadness on Facebook

Parents and pupils have taken to Facebook to express their disappointment after it was revealed that St Margaret's School in Exeter may close.

Dozens of postings have been made on the SAVE ST. Margaret's School page following the shock announcement.

The page says: "We believe St Margaret's School is a really special place and want to do all that we can to save it, for the current pupils and for the pupils to come."

One supporter, Bethany Collins, wrote: "I went to St. Margaret's and did leave early on but it is sad news as I have many happy memories there. I hope something can be done to save the school, it can't just end here but if it does, go down fighting. I wish all the best for the current students and let's hope things can change."

Christine Chandler said: "This is very sad news, St Margaret's has been a unique special school, my daughters flourished as individuals and I have very happy memories of the 'family' community that bought the best out of each student. We also valued the Christian ethos. A few years ago St Margaret's was the most successful of the Woodard Schools what has gone wrong?"

And Claire Whitfield added: "How on earth in 7 short years did the school go from thriving to shutting down? This is so sad, for everyone who went to school there and enjoyed it and especially for the girls now having to find new schools."
