East Devon District Council’s housing team is looking for tenants or leaseholders who can help to improve its service by being part of a special scrutiny panel.

First set up in 2011, the Tenant Scrutiny Panel reviews housing services on behalf of other residents, making recommendations and working with housing officers to make improvements. The panel has just completed its third in-depth project, scrutinising tenant involvement of the housing service.

Sylvia Martin, the current chairman of the panel, who has been a member since 2012, said: “Panel members have a real opportunity to make a difference and gain some valuable work experience.

“If you are enthusiastic, committed and looking to get more out of getting involved we want to hear from you. The more you put in to the work of the panel, the more you will get out.”

All panel members receive training and mentoring which can help gain some important skills and develop self confidence. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and keep active. Panel members also receive expenses for their time.

If you would like more information about the Tenant Scrutiny Panel or would like to apply please contact Jane Reading, Tenant and Communities Manager on 01395 516551 ext 2236 or email jmreading@eastdevon.gov.uk
