The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning of ice for Devon as temperatures are set to fall below freezing tonight.

The warning says: "Temperatures will fall below freezing on Wednesday night, with a risk of scattered wintry showers falling on sub-zero surfaces.

"This leads to a risk of icy patches on untreated roads and pavements on Thursday morning.

"In addition, light snow showers may give a temporary dusting of snow away from coasts.

"Please be aware of the risk of some locally difficult driving conditions, and some low level travel disruption."

The five day regional forecast is as follows:

Tonight:
A few showers will linger, falling as snow in places, but on the whole it will be another cold and dry night, with a widespread frost forming.

Thursday:
After another cold and frosty start, with prolonged sunshine, cloud will start to increase through the day. Still one or two showers in places.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Most places will remain dry and cold with patchy cloud, with the exception of the southwest, which may have rain or snow for a time on Friday and early Saturday.
