Rezcomm checks in at Exeter Science Park Centre
The leading provider of airport ecommerce and reservation systems, Rezcomm, has relocated its head office to the Exeter Science Park Centre following accelerated growth.
Established in North Devon, one of the UK’s top travel destinations, Rezcomm started out as a traditional travel agency business called “Let’s go Travel” and grew its retail network to over 50 retail stores. Recognising a shift in the market to buying travel online, the firm changed their focus from high street sales to the development of an online travel agency (OTA) and extended its product portfolio and client base by developing innovative reservation technology and specialist industry software, specifically geared to the airport, leisure and parking industry and subsequently rebranded as Rezcomm.
Today Rezcomm are proud to be recognised as an official technology and travel partner for over 25 airports across Europe providing integrated e-commerce solutions to drive non aeronautical revenues for its partners, whilst simultaneously focussing on how its technology and a more streamlined approach to digital engagement can deliver a more customer centric experience for travellers.
The move to the Exeter Science Park comes as the company expands into international business. Travel Services Director, Marc Ive, said: “The company has been evolving at such a rapid pace that we needed to think carefully about relocation. One of the things that appealed to us about the Exeter Science Park was its location - being based close to Exeter International Airport is extremely useful, particularly as our number of overseas clients continue to grow. Exeter Airport is also one of our clients so being just down the road is really helpful.
“Exeter is a fantastic location that has a highly skilled and knowledgeable community of technology specialists and the Exeter Science Park has allowed us to tap into this pool of people. To ensure that we remain leaders in our field, much of our work is around research and development, so we’ve found it incredibly inspiring being surrounded by so many bright individuals that are constantly creating and innovating” Marc added.
The firm focuses on three main areas of business that sit within what they call ‘an airport digital eco-system’; online travel and parking reservations via its ecommerce platform, business intelligence solutions and customer relationship management (CRM) systems – all three are wrapped up in a digital service offering that is deployed to put the systems to work quickly and cost effectively.
The bespoke software provides airports and other venue-based businesses with their own branded shop window, built in yield management and business intelligence together with CRM capabilities. Due to continuous progression and development of their software and the take up of their services by a growing network of clients, Rezcomm is now recognised as one of the industry’s leading innovators and is set to double the size of its client portfolio over the coming year as it launches in new territories around the globe.
Neil Robson, Rezcomm’s Parking Services Director said: “Over the years we’ve demonstrated our capabilities and shown that we fully understand how airports operate. The business is evolving at a fast pace. With pressure on airports (in particular smaller regional one’s) to fund infrastructure improvements including heightened security measures and systems, coupled with the challenges of operating on lower landing fees, often driven by the Low Cost Airlines, the airports need to streamline their model to maximise revenue across as many products and services as possible, whilst at the same time offering passengers an enjoyable and tailored customer experience. It’s a very competitive market place for airports right now and many operate their marketing and commercial activities on low staff numbers and limited technology, so it’s incredibly important that airports have access to solutions and services such as those offered by Rezcomm.”
He continued: “Our services aren’t limited to airports either, we also develop software for parking operators and other venue-based destinations around the globe such as Genting World Resorts and Casino’s, situated at the NEC in Birmingham, one of five such branded leisure facilities opened by Genting with other facilities located in Malaysia, New York City, Singapore and the Philippines.”
The company has a growing team of ‘industry experts’ covering Airports, Travel, Parking, Digital and Technology across its two offices including a dedicated call centre and customer service team, based at its offices near Manchester. Moving forward, a large percentage of its resource will be located at the Exeter Science Park Centre.
Robin Jackson, Director of the Exeter Science Park Centre said: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Marc, Neil and their team to the Exeter Science Park Centre and look forward to seeing them utilise everything the Science Park has to offer. Rezcomm cover an industry that we haven’t yet had the opportunity to work with, their expertise in the travel sector will add real value to the Exeter Science Park.”
The building of the Science Park Centre has been made possible with shareholder equity from Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, the University of Exeter; the Heart of the South West LEP which committed £4.5m loan from the Growing Places Fund; and a £1 million grant from the Regional Growth Fund.
