Brixham legal firm to join national will making drive
A Brixham legal firm has joined a national fundraising drive which targets the 70% of the population who do not have a will.
BrixLaw Limited based in Devon has signed up to take part in the initiative which takes place throughout November and sees solicitors around the UK offer their time and skills free of charge.
They aim to write as many wills as possible during the month-long period, asking clients to donate the fee to charity.
Sue Thomas solicitor at Brixlaw Limited Solicitors, said: “We are thrilled to be getting involved in such a worthwhile programme.
“It is easy, simple and straightforward to make a will and having one saves a lot of confusion and heartache in the long run.
“We are very proud to be able to help people to have peace of mind that their paperwork is in order and at the same time help so many incredible charities.”
Will Aid Month takes place across the country from 01-30 November 2016. Money raised is split between nine of the UK’s best-loved charities.
Peter de Vena Franks, campaign director for Will Aid said: “We have a huge problem in the UK when it comes to talking about death. This attitude means many people have left no instructions for their loved ones for the future.
“Will Aid 2015 was a fantastic success but we are really hoping 2016 will surpass that. We are delighted that BixLaw is joining us and hope that many more solicitors sign up as soon as possible to get the most out of this fantastic initiative.”
Last year Will Aid raised more than £1million for charity. Across the UK, Will Aid Solicitors and their clients have contributed more than £17 million in donations and an estimated £95 million in legacy pledges since the campaign was founded more than 25 years ago.
Peter continued: “Will Aid is a fantastic initiative for solicitor firms to sign up to, not only are they giving something back to the local community, but the sooner they sign up the more time they have to make use of the fantastic publicity opportunities which come with it. If you are a solicitor who is wondering whether this is for you, do get in touch!”
The campaign has helped more than 300,000 people to write a proper will with a professional solicitor.
